Who this policy covers
KnownCS LLC (“Known CS,” “we,” or “us”) is a Florida company that operates knowncs.com and develops the Equity Empires mobile app. This policy covers those website and app experiences, as well as project and support messages you send to us. A separate agreement may govern information handled during a client engagement.
Information we handle
Website visits, project inquiries, and support
If you use the project brief form, we receive your name, email address, optional company or team name, and the project description you choose to send. If you email us, we receive your address, message, and any details or attachments you include. For app support, you may choose to share your device model, operating system, app version, screenshots, or an error message. Please avoid sending sensitive information that we do not need to help you.
Our website host receives ordinary request information needed to deliver and protect the site. This may include your IP address, browser and device information, pages requested, referring page, and date and time of access. The project brief form is processed through Netlify Forms.
We use Google Analytics on the website to understand visits and interactions such as page views, scrolling, project inquiries, email-link clicks, app-store interest, and FAQ use. It loads when you visit and uses cookies and similar identifiers. Google receives browser and device information, pages and referring URLs, interaction data, and an IP address used to derive approximate location. Our custom events do not include your name, email address, company, or project message. Google Signals and advertising personalization are disabled in our website tag.
Game information kept on your device
Equity Empires works without an account or cloud game sync. Saved sessions, player names, property names and templates, house rules, balances, individual transactions, and custom marker images are kept in protected storage on your device. We do not receive that game content through normal app use. Camera or photo-library access is optional and is used only when you choose to make a custom marker. Image processing, including background removal, happens on the device. You can use built-in markers instead.
Usage analytics in configured iOS releases
Usage analytics starts enabled. Mixpanel can receive a random installation identifier that links events over time; app and device details such as app version, operating system, device model, and screen size; feature and session counts; fixed screen names; and tap events, including repeated or apparently unresponsive taps and structural information about the tapped control. The app does not send player names, saved games, marker images, balances, or individual transaction details in its analytics events. Mixpanel may infer an approximate city, region, or country from the connection's IP address. The app does not request GPS location or use an advertising identifier for analytics.
The app calls its switch “Anonymous analytics,” but the installation identifier makes these records pseudonymous: events from one installation can be linked over time. The current Android implementation does not send Mixpanel events.
Crash and error diagnostics
Configured release builds can send crash and error reports to Sentry so we can diagnose failures. These reports can contain stack traces and app or device details. The app does not attach saved games, custom marker images, screenshots, or a recording of your session to these reports. Sentry diagnostics are separate from Mixpanel usage analytics.
App analytics choice
In Equity Empires, open Options (or Settings from the welcome screen) and turn off “Anonymous analytics” to stop future Mixpanel collection. The app clears queued analytics events and resets its installation identity when the change succeeds. If it reports an error or says collection may still be on, use Retry; that message is not confirmation that collection stopped. Turning analytics off cannot recall events already sent or in flight. Turning it back on starts with a new identity and does not replay activity from the time it was off.
This switch does not turn off Sentry crash and error diagnostics. There is currently no separate in-app switch for those reports.
How we use information
We use the information described above to:
- reply to project inquiries and support requests;
- operate, secure, and troubleshoot the website and app;
- understand website and app usage and improve their design; and
- meet legal obligations and protect our rights and users.
Website cookies and signals
The website uses ordinary hosting and security technology, which may include essential cookies or similar storage, and Google Analytics uses analytics cookies. You can block analytics using browser controls or the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. Google may collect information about your activity over time on this site and other sites or apps that use Google services, as explained in its partner-site policy. The website does not currently change its behavior in response to browser Do Not Track signals. Browser settings do not control the Equity Empires app's analytics; use the in-app choice described above.
Retention and deletion
We keep project and support communications for as long as needed to handle the matter and maintain ordinary business or legal records, then delete or deidentify them. Website request data, Google Analytics events, Mixpanel app analytics, and Sentry crash reports are retained under the settings and schedules of the services that process them. You can ask us about the current period for a particular category or request deletion using the contact below. We may need enough information to locate the record, and some records may need to be kept for legal reasons.
Game information stays on your device until you delete it. You can delete saved sessions and custom markers in the app. Deleting a marker does not remove the original image from your photo library. Deleting the app through your device's system controls removes local app data; on iOS, “Offload App” keeps documents and data, so choose “Delete App” if you want to remove them. We have no cloud copy from which to restore a saved game. Deleting local data or turning analytics off does not delete reports already delivered to Mixpanel or Sentry.
Your choices and rights
You can choose not to send a project brief or support email. You can deny or revoke optional camera and photo permissions in your device settings. You can turn off future Mixpanel analytics in the app and delete local game content as described above.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold, or to object to certain uses. Email hello@knowncs.com with “Privacy request” in the subject. We may need to verify your request and will respond as required by applicable law. Because the app has no account and its usage analytics use a random installation identifier, an email address alone may not let us locate events from your installation. Website analytics use browser-based identifiers, so an email address alone may not let us locate those events either.
Children
The website's project brief form is for adults contacting us about services. Equity Empires is for a general audience and is not directed or marketed to children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has sent personal information to Known CS, contact us so we can review and delete it where required.
Security and location
We use reasonable safeguards for the information we handle. Equity Empires stores game content in encrypted, device-bound storage, but no storage or transmission system is completely secure. The service providers named above may process information in the United States or other places where they operate. Privacy protections may differ by location.
Changes and contact
If our practices change, we will update this policy and its date. For a material change, we will provide any additional notice or choice required by law before the new practice applies.
For privacy questions or requests, contact KnownCS LLC at hello@knowncs.com.
